The Cherry Festival and Céret de Bandas

24 and 25 May 2026
When we talk about Céret, cherries inevitably spring to mind!

When we talk about Céret, cherries inevitably spring to mind! Cherries have found their ideal home here and have been grown in the area for over 150 years, much to the delight of food lovers, who are lucky enough to taste the first French cherries as early as mid-April.

Join in the celebrations for this delicious local red fruit by browsing the various stalls at the local farmers’ market. On the programme for these two days of festivities: tastings of products featuring the Vallespir’s star fruit, performances by ‘bandas’ – the wandering brass bands typical of festivals in the South of France – aperitif concerts, not to mention the famous cherry stone spitting contest!

The restaurants in the capital of Vallespir are also taking part in the event: the chefs will be creating special cherry-themed menus for you. A host of activities awaits you at the end of May in Céret, which comes alive to the rhythm of the bandas and offers a great celebration for food lovers of all ages.
